What is a good resource to locate a single family home for a 6-12 month rental while I search for a property.?

Asked by Babysteps, Phoenix, AZ Wed Aug 8, 2012

Seems like I have the green light from my company to move down to Phoenix. Trying to get settled in ahead of the school year. What are some good resources to find SFH's in the Phoenix area (preferrably Scottsdale) to rent? I have a family of four.

Scottsdale is a great area of Phoenix. What are the criteria that you have for your rental home--location in Scottsdale, # bedrooms, monthly rental rate, pool, etc? I would be able to send you a list of homes or you can search online on my website just like realtors do at http://www.jenniemillerrealtor.com

Hi Babysteps,

We give you access to search the REAL MLS just like any Realtor. Realtor's pay hundreds of dollars per year to access the MLS but we give it to you for FREE. You can search for homes for sale or for lease. You can also search for commercial properties for sale and for lease. You can visit our web site at: http://www.PositionRealty.com

Craigslist is a good place to look. Sometimes reators have properties that have been for sale for a long time, and vacant, so the owners will sometimes rent out on a minimal move in status.

Also, I have had clients rent mobile homes, sometimes at a higher rate for the monthly status.

Whatever you rent, monthly status will cost you a premium.

One thing to be aware of, in Scottsdale, rates go up in season which is November through April. Make sure the agent you work with is not only aware of that but can negotiate a set rate if your rental period will encompass that time period.

Any real estate agent will be happy to assist you finding a short term rental in the Valley. A lot of rentals specify 12 month lease terms, but some can be negotiable if you are willing or have the means to pay a significant portion of your rent (for the term) upfront. For Rent By Owner is a site you might want to check out as well as HotPads (http://www.forrentbyowner.com/ and http://www.hotpads.com). Another resource you might want to look into is Cragislist, but do your homework and watch out for scam artists!

HI Babysteps,

I can help you in your rental search and for the subsequent purchase. Having your own agent, also known as a "buyers agent" , is an important piece of the puzzle for you. A buyers agent is your advocate for both the buying and renting options.

If you would like to contact me, I would be glad to talk to you and get a feel for what you are looking for and your longer term goals.

Thanks,
