What happened to the Crime statistics that used to pop up on the map?

Asked by Terri Sarappo, Albany, CA Wed Jul 25, 2012

Is there a similiar tool I can find. I am looking at homes in Oakland CA. That was the most useful thing on Trulia.

In addition to accessing crime maps on the property detail page (as Jeff mentioned), you can also see comprehensive crime data on the map view of our search results page (just click the local info link, and select crime). Here's an example for Oakland:

Also, you can see crime maps on the majority of our local info pages. An example for Oakland: http://www.trulia.com/real_estate/Oakland-California/crime/

This is also available for neighborhoods too.

Hope that helps!

I have also recommended the following site to my clients:

It's still there: pull up a property detail page, scroll down below "property tax" info to "Local Info," & the 3rd tab to the right is "Criimes."
Hope that helps.

Whenever I get asked about how the neighborhood safety or crime is in a certain area, I let clients know about these two sites so they can use their best judgement.

The City of Oakland's Police department actually has a website where you can look up crime stats. http://www.oakland.crimespotting.org

From this site you can look up crimes that have been reported.

Hope that helps!
