My recommendation is to go ahead and contact a mortgage broker to get you prequalified and to also give you your parameters for a condo purchase. You will need the prequal. letter to proceed with your search in case you want to present an offer. All purchase contracts will require a copy to be presented at time of offer. The minimum usually is 20%. But more is usually better. Also there are other factors that may influence your ability to get a mortgage for a particular condo, including the condominium association's financial status.
