Elena,
Since Austin has a lot of limestone it can be very expensive to build a basement. I am from the north and I would love to have a basement as well.
There are homes out there with smaller basements.
A Texas basement is just an extra unfinished room usually upstairs.
If you have other questions please let me know.

TX basement normally refers to a large walk-in closet that opens to a common area like a hallway or gameroom or it could also mean a large floored attic area (walk-in accessible from 2nd floor). Since we don't have true basements here for the most part (this is our humble substitute for them).

Hi Elena,

I hope you are having a super day! I live and work in the Austin area and even though they are extremely rare here, I have seen basements in this area.

A home can be built with a basement here if you wish. Again, a basement here is very rare but I'm sure a builder will do it for you. There is also a way for a scouting report to help pinpoint basement criteria for you on an existing home here.

How else may I assist you?
