We are looking at houses in the $350,000 to $400,000 range (4 bedroom, 2,800 sq./ft.).

Hi,

You can look up the school ratings online for districts or individual schools. Brentfield, near my house, is ranked Exemplary for 2011 (the last year with rankings).

Likewise, all of the non-Wilson Coppell Elementary schools are also rated Exemplary.

If you're planning on staying in the same house for a while, then you'll be in Middle School/Junior High sooner than you think. The Coppell MIddle Schools have two as Recognized and one as Exemplary (Coppell HS is also ranked as Recognized). The two JHs that Brentfield feed into are also rated as Recognized.

If you'd like to search further, go here: http://ritter.tea.state.tx.us/perfreport/account/2011/distri…

Bottom line - the Elementary schools you're looking at are both well-regarded, so from that point of view, you can't go wrong on either.

If there's anything else I can do for you, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Completely different areas....

Coppell is small town....most schools excellent. Little real crime. Family friendly atmosphere. Mostly newer homes...last 15 years or less. Most homes $200,000 to $1mil, so mostly professional.

Dallas typically has older homes, different style, more one story, maybe bigger yards...huge city, probably less sense of community, but mixture of people in the neighborhoods.....Brentwood is great, but what happens after elementary, or the school closes, or zoning changes? It can happen in any city, but the way Dallas demographics are..../???

I've lived in both areas so if you want to sit down and discuss some of these ideas and more just let me know. Nothing wrong about either one, but to me very different....not even really comparable for most people.
