Keleigh15e, on the average it's about $6000 in Elmwood Park and about $7000 in Fair Lawn. Sometimes, if the the property is on a bigger lot or in an "exclusive" area (such as Radburn in Fair Lawn) taxes can go up to 8 to 9 thousand; but that is not typical.

Keleigh,
Fairlawn is going to be a bit more expensive than Elmwood Park especially if you take into consideration the sections of town.Try to stick with a 50x100 property size to keep the amount around the average of 6,000 range.Your going to pay about a thousand more for a coparable property size in Fairlawn.
Let's put it this way.Taxes arent cheap in NewJersey period just do a little research into the surrounding Counties. The days of Bergen County being Jaded by the fact it a has the highest property taxes arent nearly as true as it used to be.Just have a look around ,Passaic County is very comparable to Bergen with few exceptions of course.Essex and Hudson County are much higher.
Carlstadt and East Rutherford are some of the lowest youll find in Bergen then you have Paramus and Mahwah. In Essex County Cedar Grove is your best bet..
Good luck to you

If you discount Mahwah and Paramus none of the other towns in Bergen county are cheap, In these 2 towns a typical $300,000 house will pay $6000 or so with obviously higher amounts for more expensive houses.
