Meadowmont is one of the more expensive per/sq/ft neighborhoods but has a nice walking community center that many locals here believe is worth the extra price. It also has the one thing that everyone knows is important...Location! There are many very good school districts in the triangle. Many of the Wake County Schools (Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Morrisville) have great report cards. If you choose a district or two and then begin exploring the neighborhoods, you will surely find a home in your budget. There are many fantastic areas to live around the Research Triangle Park. Every town and city has their own special flavor and you will know by visiting where you would like to concentrate your search. If you are looking for a house in a kid-friendly neighborhood, look no further! I am in the process of getting my house on the market and we live in a great area. The Fuquay-Varina/Holly Springs area is growing, but still affordable. The neighborhood we live in is full of children. From pre-schoolers to high schoolers, there are a great variety of children and surprisingly, the ethnic and cultural backgrounds of the families in our neighborhood is quite diverse. The trip to Raleigh is less than thirty minutes and the trip to Fayetteville is less than an hour. This allows you to be home quickly to our quiet neighborhood but still have access to the amenities afforded to you in the city. I think you'd be quite pleased living here. If you thought that Meadowmont was overpriced, you might want to consider some of the Wake County school districts. There are many beautiful neighborhoods in Raleigh that are conveniently located near RTP. Cary is also a good place to consider. I think whatever you decide, you will think you hit the jackpot when you compare the triangle home prices to San Fransisco. I am a REALTOR who serves Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. I have a fairly equal knowledge of the three areas and can help you search in most of the triangle.

I have a home for sale 30 minutes from the RTP area. Not sure what your price range is but you may view at MLS#967786. It is located in Oxford, NC. With good schools and nice family oriented subdivision that sits on 1.6 acres with pond in back. Totally fenced in back yard. Too much to list here. Have to see.

Philippe, there are many terrific areas for families here. If you haven't had a chance to visit yet, I'd start by checking out Chapel Hill, Cary, North Raleigh, and Wake Forest. MacGregor Downs and Lochmere are fairly centrally located if you're going to be working in RTP. Depending on how much land you're looking for, and whether you want new construction or something established, there are plenty of options!

Sadly, agents are not allowed by law to discuss "family" neighborhoods. If you want to learn about schools, go tohttp:// www.greatschools.net. As you will see, Chapel Hill Schools test at the top for the state. My children actually went to public school there for a time, and we were quite impressed.

Are you mostly interested in Chapel Hill? Some homes in Chapel Hill are a bit high right now, but the busy season is just beginning, so new home buying opportunities are on the horizon. Overall, the neighborhoods you mentioned do very well for appreciation and resale.
