I have helped quite a few NU professors and graduate students find their homes in either East Rogers Park or Andersonville. Both of these communities are very close to NU campus and have easy access to transportation. The Evanston market and Andersonville are similar in many ways. However, depending on your needs and likes--you may want to consider whether classic versus extended Andersonville is right for you. I hope this helps in your search.

It all depends:
Will you be commuting by car or public transportation? Are you talking about Chicago neighborhoods or suburbs? Condo/townhome or single family homes? Rent or own? How do you define "short?" 15 minutes? 30 minutes?
