Hmm, if you like rural areas, small towns, and maybe a tad less taxes, then you will like Princeville. Located only about 20-25 min from Peoria, but plenty of room to spread out. You can occasionally buy acreage in Princeville and it hasn't succumbed to "cookie-cutter" houses yet.
Dunlap is known for it's schools and high taxes. Lots of homes being built there some cookie-cutter, some not. Dunlap sits between Princeville and Peoria, so therefore it is more convenient. Probably a little more diversity in Dunlap than Princeville as a lot of Caterpillar transferees live there.
Washington is a nice quiet little town. Historic in nature with beautiful old Victorian homes and a good mix of new homes as well. Located on the East side of the Illinois River, many choose Washington over Peoria because it has a small-town atmosphere but close to the bigger city. Taxes are probably between Princeville and Dunlap rates.
