Terry Gassett, Home Buyer in Austin, TX

We will be selling our existing home and buying a new one in two years when we will be relocating for a career change. Can we get prequalified now?

2 years is a long time away to get prequalified. I'd suggest getting your credit cleaned up as something you could do now though. Enjoy your move!

Hi Terry

While you can start now, it will help you get a basis of what you can buy or afford.

It helps you also narrow the Area / Schools / Local etc. etc.

Getting pre qualed now maybe mute as Buyers and Sellers want to see a letter
that is generally less than 60 days old.

Good luck

Sounds like you need a financial planner to help you get to where you need to be in 2 years to buy the new home that you want. Planning is always the best way to go, that is something that more people need to do.

A lot can change in two years, not just your financial status but lending guidelines as well. Most prequalifications are not good for more than a few months at best.

You should wait until you are closer to your date. If you want to know what price range to be checking out you can meet now. So much can change in 2YRS.

Hi Terry!

You can always get prequalified to see where you stand financially, but more than likely you will need to be qualified closer to your purchase date. If you need additional help, please do not hesitate to contact me.
