We have two possibilities, in relocating. A home in Wisconsin, or buying my sister-in-laws home in Kentucky.

In the later case, how do we attain financing for an out of state property?

If you are considering moving to Wisconsin I would check out Eau Claire. Sure I am a bit biased but hey, this town is great! Check out http://localism.com/wi/eau_claire for some great bits of info about Eau Claire that I have recently posted. Also check out http://localism.com/blog/wi/eau_claire/posts/650660/Eau-Clai… for some website links that relate to this city. If you have any questions you can call the Eau Claire Chamber of Commerce!

Jeremy has the right idea. Choose a nationally-recognized lender and get YOURSELF qualified. Then, choose the right home and get IT approved, and you're in! I agree with the choice of Wisconsin ... though ask me in February, and I might change my mind. Best wishes!

Jesse,
Most national lenders have financing programs that will allow you to purchase a home in all 50 states ie Wells Fargo. If you decide on a location now you can get in contact with a local loan officer to get the process started and ready to go for your purchase. My suggestion: Wisconsin!
