We have made an offer on a Cartus relocation home, and another offer was accepted (presumably a higher offer). We would like to also present a

higher offer, but have been told by the selling agent that Cartus will not accept a back-up offer, or even a higher offer. Is that true? Why would Cartus not accept a higher offer? The house has not gone pending on the MLS, and according to the selling agent, Cartus has not signed off on the other buyer's offer, although it was accepted by the seller and sent to Cartus for approval. Why couldn't we also submit an offer for Cartus approval, if the house has not gone pending, and Cartus hasn't signed? We're having a hard time finding anyone who knows anything about what Cartus policies are. Thanks

Mdangers,
First of all is the home owned already by CARTUS on a relocation buyout or are they still merely the relocation company for the seller's employer. If the home is still owned by the seller and they have accepted an offer it is not CARTUS's call to make. As far as going pending in MLS that will sometimes take a day or so to get all the signatures on every piece of paper before the contract gets turned into to the admin to put in to MLS. I am a CARTUS agent so if I knew the property I could find out a little more if need be. It is really the seller's call as to whether to continue to accept offers. When it comes time to close yes CARTUS will become the seller but, up until the time the seller takes the CARTUS buyout or accepts another offer it is their call.

Hope this helps,
