District/Edgewood. Is it so bad to sell our house and buy more house for the $ in Thornwood, or should we buy up in Scarsdale, less for the $?

I think now is a GREAT time to buy up in Scarsdale. What has been your experience so far with Scarsdale>>>>do you have kids in the schools? are you happy with the way it has gone so far? It all depends on the kind of community you want. My advise would be to go to Thornwood and eat lkunch there....visit the schools....go to the shops....and see if you like it -- it is not just about the house. We are seeing alot of properties selling in under 1,000,000 price range in the last couple of months. If you have the financial ability in this market to sell and move up, you have more buying power and your house is in demand. Please feel free to contact me on my cell @ 914.672.6424 to discuss further or email me @ cindy.schwall@cbmoves.com. Whatever you do, use a local agent to sell your house!

thanks and good luck

Trish, I think it depends on if you have children going to the Scarsdale school system. If they are going to Scarsdale or Edgemont, I would think that you may want to stay since those school systems are awesome (better than Thornwood in my opinion).

Hi Trish, I hear you when you talk about finding the right place to move up. It always seems that one "want or need" is missing, and that goes in any price range, which is Scarsdale is high, higher and wow!
Cheers Trish

Thank you very much for answering, Charles. Yes, the "we" is my husband and I. I will write a list of both places & how are needs are met. Scarsdale is very convenient & a good town, but it hasn't been easy finding the right place to move up. I appreciate your answer and have bookmarked your website. Thanks!

Good evening Trish. When you say "We" in the opening statement, I assume it is your husband or significant other. With that, your question can only first be answered by yourselves. Ask yourselves why do you live in Scarsdale now? What do you love the most? What do you like the least? Then in another column, ask the same questions about Thornwood. No place is utopia. Besides house size, schools / taxes / commute/ neighbors/ convenience / quality of life...these are important factors as well. Good Luck.
