We are thinking of retiring to Florida at the end of 2009. What are the best areas on Florida’s east coast?

Hello Peter,
Here in the Boca Raton area of Palm Beach County we are halfway between West Palm Beach Airport and Hollywood International Airport in Ft. Lauderdale. We are less than 30 minutes to the Kravis Center and City Place and Las Olas in Ft. Lauderdale. We are 45 minutes to Miami, the cruise ship capital of the world. We have everything to offer from resorts, clubs, restaurants, entertainment and plenty of Real Estate. It is a paradise dream, a boaters dream a dream for anybody. What is your criteria and what are the things you need and can't live without?

Peter,
We agree with the Stewart, Jupiter area. But it all depends on what appeals to you. If City life is what excites you, Miami is a great choice. But for a slower pace and central east coast location, we like Jupiter and Stewart.

Good luck,
The "Eckelr Team"

The Jacksonville area is a great place to live, cost of living is low, great climate and currently a buyers market. We have all kinds of activities, fresh water/salt water fishing, great Symphony, rodeos, boating, water sports, beaches, Jaguar football, close to St. Augustine, just a couple hours to Orlando/Disney world, Univ. of North Florida, Jacksonville University and others. We have Mayo Clinic. I will be delighted to send you additonal information. email: sleahy@comcast.net. Sharon Leahy, with Prudential Network Realty

Peter,

The East Coast of Florida is a large area! I agre with some of the others.....you would be more knowledgeable about the various areas if you came down and visited the areas. (US #1 will take you from Miami all the way north into St Augustine).

If that is not an option for you....give us some information as to what your "hot" points are: Do you want to live in the "city" (Miami/West Palm/Orlando would be good choices); Do you like the water (Stuart/Jensen Beach/Jupiter would be good choices; Do you want single family home or condo/townhouse living; Will you be living here year round, or will you be a "snowbird".

My website has numerous pages on the various communities in Martin County---check them out if you wish. It will give you a brief description of our area, and what it has to offer.

Feel free to call me if you need any additional information on this area of Florida!

Congratulations on your planning…As for the best areas to retire; you have to consider what life style you want. Do you want to be on the beach, do you enjoy going out to dinner, the theater, the arts, music and how much variety do you like. Is condo living for you, do you prefer a single family house a townhouse or a maintained free condo? Also very important how much money are you planning to spend on a property? These are just some of the questions you have to ask yourself before you consider a location.

Once you have answered these questions you can visit my website http://www.nancyruizhomes.com and research Florida East Coast for demographics. Please feel free to contact me if I can assist you. Good luck to you.

Everyone will have lots of good things to say about the East coast. But if you prefer to stay close to an international airport, or the attractions, then Brevard County will be the place. Good night life for the 50 and over, close to everything. Beaches galore, people to see, Kennedy Space Center, Hwy 95, Hwy 528 (the Beach Line) stright to Orlando International Airport. Oh I forgot if you like casinos, several (free) Cruise ships to go and make it a night. Disney Cruise line, Carnival and many others....hope to see you in 2009.

East Coast? Come to Sarasota, the best. Symphony, real theater, great restaurants, free art shows, concerts in the park....and water everywhere.

BUT if you must, then Boca, Wellington (inland), West Palm...Juniper.
