Manuela,

Each of those communities you have listed have very good school systems. I think it would be helpful to know how large of a house, what type of house (ie. single family, townhouse, condo, etc.), what amenities you need, and what is important for the house to have. $220K can get you many different things depending on which community you choose. If you need help narrowing things down, I'd be happy to help further.

Thanks!

I hate to answer a question with a question BUT have you determined that your children have special interests or needs? If so this may steer to toward a district /community which offers extras in that field. The communities you listed are all suburbs in the south side of the metro area. They are competitve and progressive. They have spent money on schools, medical facilities, government facilities and infrastructure. The best way to get a feel for the community is to visit them with a local (a real estate agent would be a good start). You could "google" the schools and cities to get demographic information, such as age, income, crime stats etc. Good luck. Contact me if you want to discuss this further.

I have lived, worked, active in Eden Prairie Rotary and raised a familyt there for 20 years. Eden Prairie has been in the top ten places to live for many years. It has been the number one place in America to raise children

We can not give advice on crime but you can contract the local police department the chief is Rob Reynolds he is in Rotary with me and so is Mellissa Krull the superintendant of Eden Prairie schools.

I have a home in Eden Prairie for sale for $200.000. It is located on Cedar Ridge Road just North of Pioneer Trail. It is a short sale, 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 2400 square feet on about a half acre.

Eden Prairie is like a small town.

In as much as you are researching good neighborhoods, it's in your best interests to interview real estate agents, too. The real estate transaction can be tricky and you would do well to have a good, reliable, responsible agent working with you and on your behalf. The agent's fees are usually paid from the proceeds of the transaction. Please do some checking to find out how this can help you. It will save you lots of time and energy!

It sounds like you already did your research to choose these cities of interest. We have assisted buyers in purchasing homes in all of these cities and I live in Apple Valley myself, and can tell you all these clients we represented are very happy with the schools and neighborhoods they live in. In order for us to give you more specific advice we would like to know more about your situation. If you are not already under contract with another agent feel free to contact the Cotten Team by email or phone. We would be happy to share our expertise in these communities with you. Thanks for using Trulia to search for your next home!

Manuela-

I currently live in Eden Prairie and love it for many reasons. I love the proximity to the Lakes, Airport, Mall of America, Saint Paul and Minneapolis. The number one reason we chose to live in Eden Prairie is because it's a great place to raise a family and the schools were an added bonus.

Are you working with an agent? If so, they can help you, if not, you should interview a few and see who you would like to work with. There are many ares in the Twin cities that would fit your needs.

Hi Manuela,

It is great that you are moving to Minnesota. It is better that you already have some areas in mind.

Apple Valley is close to Eagan. Also, check Burnsville. Shakopee is Close to Eden Praire. also check Savage and Edina.

How many bedrooms and bathroms will you be looking for?

Everyone want to live in a safe and great place. It will be more a price. Are you pre approved?

In todays market there are alot of Short Sale and foreclosures. This properties represent a little bit more challenge from buyers prestective.

I think it will depend on what other amenities you are looking for and where you work. It makes a really big difference if you have to cross the river and when. All of the cities you mentioned are good ones, but you didn't say what kind of home you are looking for.

In general, you will be able to get a nicer home the further south you go, but then you may have to drive a little more, depending on what city you work in.

There is some great websites like http://www.psk12.com/rating/index.php Where you can search for school rankings in different cities.

I think what would be really helpful for you is to sit down with a realtor and talk about your needs and wants so they can help you and put together a game plan to best fit your needs.
