and 1 year old? We live a city lifestyle right now. We still want amenities but want a quieter more peaceful existence. I am also a real estate agent in California!

There are several communities in Eagle that are hugely family oriented and stable. The Bluffs, The Terrace, and of course Eagle Ranch. Good schools, neighborhood ambience and out of the traffic of the vacationers more in the Vail area. I came from Southern California and understand the quiet and peaceful desire. Let me know if I can help you. http://www.dotingonyou.com dotingonyou@kw.com

There is a very good, concise resource of all the different communities in the Vail Valley, with the latest listings sorted for each community, that is updated daily. I think you will find it useful. If you are like me, the more information the better.

I'm going to be a contrarian. I know this is an old question but for any readers out there I think I need to answer it. So many people tend to say that if you have a family you need to live "downvalley." I disagree. I live in the Matterhorn neighborhood of West Vail and I have a six year old. It is a great place to live as a family. Our public elementary school is one of the best in Colorado. Each morning at the school bus stop there are between 5 and 10 kids. It is a real community. The parks are second to none. And the free bus makes parking your car and getting around very easy.
Sure you can get "more" house down valley. But no where but Vail gives you the amenities of living right in the best ski town in the US.

I see this is an old e-mail but..., your best and safest location for a family with small children is Eagle Ranch, hands down. Great school, easy walking trails, play grounds, varied (but relatively new) housing choices.
Would love to chat if you are still looking,

Hi Lisa, Are you set on the Vail Valley? Have you considered Summit County? You can get a little more for you money in Summit County and there are a lot of kids here, and many family friendly activities. I have two sons and love Summit County. If you would like more information please feel free to email me leah@leahbaxter.com and I would be happy to answer any questions about Summit County.

Avon and Eagle. Access to the entire Vail Valley without breaking the bank. Our family vacations there every other year going back 20 years. The kids love it!

What kind of amenities are important to you and will your children's schooling be an important issue? If you are looking to relocate here, I would guess that maybe you have been here before? The Vail Valley offers many different locations for lifestyle-living. Few people actually live full-time in the resort areas of "Vail Village," Beaver Creek," or "Bachelor's Gulch," but some do. Some of the very popular locals communites are East Vail, Eagle-Vail, Edwards, Arrowhead, Singletree and Edwards. Further down-valley are the more affordable communities of Eagle and Gypsum which also offer a few extra months of summer every year. Equisite and private, gated communities like Mountain Star, Lake Creek, Cordillera, Red Sky Ranch and Bellyache Ridge are in between all of these areas.

All of the communities listed above offer amenities of some type. I think it is important to quanitfy if you desire a golf course community, privacy, exclusive club membership, pool, tennis, horse facilities, social activities, etc....
Obviously, if you are a real estate agent, then you know how much price will matter. Our communities offer prices ranging from $500,000 for a small condominium or so to $20 million with everything in between.

If you would like for me to answer any specific questions, I'd be glad to help. Eagle County is the second fastest growing county in the state of Colorado. The market here has softened in the $2.5 million and under price range, but we have seen virtually no slow down in the higher end properties over $2.5 million.
I hope this offers a little help.
