George,
The Hartford area has a wide array of options. From downtown Hartford condos and upscale outskirts like West Harford, a lot depends on what you are looking for. I work more on the eastern suburbs of Harftod. Glastonbury, Marlborough and Colchester offer excellent schools and public transportation into Hartford, all within a rural and tranquil setting. Colchester is a booming town, with lots of growth occuring, and is located 1/2 way between Hartford and Groton. you have lots of options there. Eastern CT, "East of the River," offers you more value in terms of house-for-the-buck. If you want privacy and land and a modest home for a reasonable prce, you can find it here. If I can help you at all, feel free to visit my website at http://www.ilmct.com Good luck! Mon Apr 28 2008, 20:18

George,
First of all, welcome to the Hartford area of Connecticut. Your best bet on finding a Realtor is to call a few of them and find one that you feel the most comfortable with. You will be spending a great deal of time with them and you want to be able to know they understand your wants and needs and are looking out for your best interests. Also, if technology is important to you then be sure to spend some time on their website. I am a full time realtor with Keller Williams Realty in the West Hartford area of CT and would love to discuss your needs and see if we could work together to achieve your ultimate goal of finding your next home. Give me a call or send me an email. Mon Apr 28 2008, 16:21 Web Reference: http://www.DuaneMason.com

The best way to find an agent is by referral. I would recommend one of two ways. 1) Find an agent in your current town that you respect or have a relationship with. If you don't have one - find someone who does. That agent should be able to work to find you a reputable agent in the Hartford area.
2) Ask someone in the town you are moving to who they liked or would recommend. I work for Keller Williams Realty,a nationwide company that has agents in most areas throughout the country, and I have successfully referred clients and been referred to clients by introductions just like this. I would interview and determine just what kind of broker you would like to work with, then contact the keller williams office in Ct and find you a couple options. Then you interview and choose who you thinks best fits your needs. In my opinion - Referrals are the only way to go. Mon Apr 28 2008, 16:11 Web Reference: http://www.forsalebyforsey.com

Hi George,
I would love to be able to help you find the right house for you (and family?). You raised a few of the important factors in you search, neighborhood and school system. Because what constitutes a 'good' neighborhood will vary by individual, nobody else can really tell you that. I can help by getting you the resources that will help you to arrive at that determination. Please feel free to contact me at (860) 736-1002 or by e-mail at danross@c21-accessamerica.com and we can start working towards achieving you goals.
