Dear Greg, great question! Beech Mountain can be somewhat diverse. What is your wish list? Families can enjoy the Beech Mountain Recreation Center, Beech Mountain Club, Ski area restaurants, live music venues and Freds General store. All in all it is a great community. You can choose from gated communities, chalets, log homes, condos, and round houses. This is also an active area if you plan to use the home as a vacation rental as well. Home or lot? Guess it depends on what you want but there are some great deals to be had regarding existing homes. Let me know if you have any other questions. Dear Sir,

You are better to buy right now than you are to build. It also factors on what you want and if you can find that paticular property. Building supplies are still very high right now and there really are some good buys out on the mountain Send me your email and I will send you some of the listings that are available and get you the best property for the best price.

Thank YOu,

Dear Sir,

Beech mountain is one of the best areas for families, because of all the amenities that are available plus it is also cheaper to buy on beech than it is on Sugar. Now sugar is closer to Banner Elk than Beech but Beech has it own town. I would love to show you around the area and give you a better perception on what is available in the area. You can call me anytime.

Greg, another bit of information you may wish to consider if you want to buy in this area is that Ski Beech is investing a lot of money, time and effort in updating their facility. They are adding a tubing run, building a new terrain park, upgrading to a new quad lift on the Oz Run, bringing in new grooming equipment and experienced groomers and more. We are all expectantly awaiting the opening of Ski Beech this season and hope the weather assists in making it a winter to remember. If you are not familiar with the Beech Mountain Club or the Buckeye Recreation Center on Beech Mountain, those are additional amenities worth exploring.

Greg,
When I was in middle school my family moved to Lenoir (just down the mountain off Hwy 321). So growing up I would go up to Banner Elk to go skiing. At the time Applachian Mtn was not much to ski on, and Seven Devils was limited also (although they do a great late night ski business), So it was pretty much Sugar Mtn and Beech Mtn. As a personal preference I choose Sugar because of their runs. I also have a friend that has one of the mushroom homes up off of Big Birch (the run on the left side with the green lift). It was always just nice to step out walk about 10 ft and ski down to the lodge.
I will admit it has been a number of years since I have been to either Sugar or Beech so there might have been alot of changes.
As far as resale or lot consider if you buy resale it is quicker and ready to go but, you inherit any problems seen or unseen that might exist also it may not be exactly what you want. If you buy a lot and build at least you will get exactly what you want in the home to your taste. Although the choice of locations may not be as good.

Hope this helps,

You ask a very good question. It depends on what you are looking for on the mountain. You need to consider whether you will be using the golf course, want a view, would rather have a woodsy feeling with or without a creek or if you would rather be by the Buckeye Recreation Center. As for resale or buy a lot and build, if it were me I would exhaust the potential good deals on existing homes first since they are very accessible to look at. If you can't find what you want there are plenty of builders needing the work and over 200 lots to choose from. There are good points with all so just make a wish list and you should be able to make a decision with a qualified real estate agent.
