We are buying a hud we are trying to get our inspection but they will not allow us to turn the water How do we get them to let us turn on the water?

They said that it was estimated to be around $500 to fix but they will not allow us to fix it until we close but to close we have to have an inspection but we cant have an inspection with out the water on.

We are buying a hud repo and they will not allow us to turn the water on due to their inspection saying the "water failed to hold pressure". How do we get them to let us turn on the water?

If it did not hold pressure that means something is cracked or leaking in the plumbing.

You are not allowed to fix things on any home you don't own. That is true. You can't make them turn on the water because if it didn't hold pressure, turning on the water could cause more damage.

But if HUD has repair escrow required for FHA loans at $500, it is probably minor. But if they say no, you can't turn on the water. period.

This is a foreclosure home and you need to decide if it is work the risk (price good enough) or not. Otherwise, walk away. Trying to fight them will not likely work but will waste your time.

Who is your agent? They should be able to advise you.

If they are telling you that it is going to cost $500 to fix it sounds like they know where the problem is, are they telling you what is wrong? You can keep asking, you can walk away, or you can accept the fact it will cost $500 or more to fix whatever the problem is. Hopefully you are getting a good price on the house and can accept it as-is. This is a common problem with bank owned property.

They simply said it failed to hold pressure but the water was turned off when they did their inspection so I don't know how they could even know there's anything wrong with it. We are excepting it as is but we are getting a FHA loan and they require we fix it before closing but hud will not allow us to fix it before closing.
