There are several outstanding public schools in the Summerlin area. The main difference between these schools and other schools in the Las Vegas area is that there is a stronger financial base to support the Summerlin schools. The best thing about Summerlin is the choice of Private schools. In the immediate surrounding area there are approximately 5 private schools that rival all others in the Las Vegas and Henderson areas. There are also top notch planned activities in the Summerlin area, a beautiful public library, performing arts center and numerous businesses and a hospital. There are many desirable areas in Summerlin - it really just depends on how much you can afford - homes can be found from multi million dollar estates to condo/townhome communities around $90K. I sued to live in Summerlin and enjoyed it immensely - so much to do there and as a planned community, it is always lovely.

If you looking to maximize your ROI, Summerlin is not my first choice for maximum rent vs. cash invested. The zip codes surronding Summerlin have some of the best rents vs. purchase price in Las Vegas today. Houses that sold for $325,000 in 2006 can be found for $125,000 and rent for $1200 to $1300 in good middle class areas.

Just stay west of Rainbow for home and school and you'll be just fine. Most teachers are from UNLV, some from out of state so they're all about the same. Most important thing is being involved with their school, and keeping an eye on what they're being taught. Motivate them to love reading, teaching them "how to learn" and not so much what to learn and good study habits, They'll be fine if in nice neighborhood and nearby school west of Rainbow. Happy New Year and welocome to the greatest city in the world. You're going to love it here. If you need anything, please call me or my wife. We'be been here since 76 and have raised two great kids here...ones a tearcher now.

You can get the best answer to this queston on Clark County web site... It will tell you all about the school in the North West area.. Realtors are not allowed to give out information regarding schools, neighborhoods, without violating Federal Fair Housing Law, and getting into trouble with the Realtor Division.. I always tell my clients to
research the crime, school, and church areas before buying as I know they are going to ask me those questions.
Good Luck and Hope you have a wonderful 2012... If you are in need of a realtor I will be more than happy to assist you in anyway..

As a former teacher in the school district here for 24 years, I can answer with a fair degree of expertise. Palo Verde is the main high school in Summerlin and has an enrollment of almost 4,000 students. Good teachers and administration with incredible athletic facilities including an outdoor pool for competition. Sig Rogich is the middle school right next door so if you have high school and middle school kids, it's one stop shopping but the hours are staggered by about an hour.
About 90% of my clients are teachers, former teachers or their referrals. Call or emails at contacts below!

It's a bit tricky for real estate agents to answer that question directly without violating Federal Fair Housing Law, however we can give you the tools you need to make your own conclusions.

Interesting thing about Nevada, one school district serves the whole county! That makes Clark County School District the 5th largest in the nation. I think trying to identify the "best" schools in Summerlin would be a sucker's game, because the district can *and does* redraw lines every year to make sure no schools are terribly crowded. To learn more about which schools have the best test scores and parent satisfaction ratings, I recommend checking out GreatSchools.
