WHERE to buy in Dallas TX??We are moving to Dallas TX from Ann Arbor MI.

Looking for our next home…and that’s all we need:
1. Four Bedroom House, Price $300000-$350000
2. Exemplary Schools
3. Close to DFW Airport (15 mi radius)

We did some internet research and found; there are 3 areas we might consider;
1. Southlake: Exemplary schools, BUT the price is too much for us.
2. Coppell: Only one High school but not exemplary, also new ‘Northlake’ development coming soon!! Nobody knows what will happen after new 4300 units built there.
3. Grapevine: Some area offers Carroll ISD but not sure about other schools.

ANY OTHER SUGGESTION? HAVE WE MISSED ANYTHING?

The Coppell housing market is soft, which makes for a good time to buy. Get with your agent, and they can provide you with more specific information.

Hi Sonali,
Welcome to DFW Metroplex. Many of our RE pros have substantially explained about the area/ region. We have been here since last 4 years and are also looking for a home. Moved from MI.
In DFW, Plano and Coppell ISD are generally deemed as very good school districts though I do not refute other claims. For Coppell ISD you can visithttp:// www.coppellisd.com.
But make sure that the home you buy in Coppell falls under Coppell ISD jurisdiction. Because, many homes in Coppell City limits fall under Carollton/ Farmers Branch school district. The school district boundaries are different from city boundaries. As a thumb rule, I believe, any house east of N MacArthur Blvd (see google map for 75063 and 75019) would not fall under Coppell ISD. Similarly, many homes in Irving city limits (particulalrly within 75063) fall under Coppell ISD.
FYI.. Coppell ISD is coming up with a new High School which is built on a new model. Not the building per se, but the academics and curricullum. This new model of teaching is based on the proven model by New Tech org (seehttp:// www.newtechfoundation.org). Something like that and I am not vouching for any ISD or org. The first school was instituted in Napa of California. This model school is the first in North Texas region. Please visit the Coppell ISd website for more info.
But homes in coppell are slightly costly as compared to those in Plano. Both cities have saturated in housing mkt. If I were you, as a common man, I would move to an apartment or rent a home for 6months in the vicinity and then personally visit the areas of interest to later decide.
Good luck.

Hi Sonali,

How are you? Welcome to Dallas.

We are helping clients that are moving from Ann Arbor this weekend to Dallas to find a new home. Would love to talk to you about your particulars and what makes a home a home to you.

1. We can get you into Southlake for your price point and requirements. :) You've got lots of options with or without pools, one story or two, four or five bedroom, 2,200 - 3,300 sq. ft., huge backyard with creek, or smaller backyard, etc. Your kids could go to the highly acclaimed Carroll schools.

2. Coppell - Naima covered that pretty well. Since you mention High School, I'm thinking that's your major concern.

3. We are searching for another couple who is looking in the Grapevine area and her entire family lives there and has for most of their lives. They have had great success with their kids in that school district. Her daughter had been in another school district that wasn't as advanced, so she had been on an reading program this year. With that help, she's been now advanced in her reading 2 grades and loves to read. My friend/client is thrilled! She says all the other moms have great things to say about the schools there, too. They particularly want to stay around Dove and Kimbell Ranch area because her daughter will go to Grapevine-Colleyville ISD. I could put you in touch with them if you'd like?

4. The homes in your price range for Castle Hills in Lewisville would be attending Hebron High School. It's academically acceptable. You can read more about it athttp:// www.greatschools.net.

5. Trophy Club - lots of choices in your price range. New builds and established construction. By the lake. Academically acceptable High School - Northwest.

Hope it helps,
Terri Hayley

In this price range I would first consider:

Coppell or Grapevine. You might also consider Flower Mound.
Potentially Colleyville, but normally most of my customers are happy in CV starting about $400,000.
I know all these areas and live and work in the area if you need help looking let me know.

Hello Sonali,
What grades are you kids? Are elementary and middle schools still important? Coppell's ISD is rated "recognized" which is really good. 9 out of the 10 elementary schools are rated "exemplary", 2 of the 3 middle schools are rated "exemplary" and the only high school is rated "acceptable".

There are many homes in your budget over 2500SF on the market right now there. The north part of Coppell is in Lewisville ISD. Shop carefully

Grapevine/Colleyville ISD is rated "acceptable". Out of 18 schools in the district 8 are exemplary, 4 recognized and 5 acceptable. There are also a number of homes meeting your needs on the market there. Also, you may get lucky and find a house in Grapevine with Carroll ISD (Southlake).

You may also consider Lewisville and particularly Castle Hills. The location is very central and the community is awesome. Lewisville ISD has 18 exemplary schools, 27 recognized and 13 acceptable.

I will be very happy to send you a list of availble homes that match your criteria.

Naima
