Utility pole on the driveway of a house.

A house I was looking at has a utility pole on the side of its driveway. What are the effects of having a utility pole on a private property? I'm assuming it lowers the property value. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Anne,

That would depend on each person's taste. If it is not too much of an eye sore, then that should be fine. The drawback is that many people don't like the look of it next to their house. As a result, it may or may not lower the value depending on how unsightly it looks. The utility pole is just a utility easement. I have seen some in the driveway that is somewhat discreet so it did not have much of a negative impact on the property value. Hope that helps! Good luck. :)
