If asking about a specific property contact management directly for any necessary information, or consider working with an agent of your own as each HOA is different. Generally such fees cover anything that is shared by the owners such common area upkeep, amenities, landscaping, trash pick up, etc. Such fee payment schedules vary complex by complex, some are monthly, some may be quartely, some may be yearly.....

It depends on what HOA you are asking about. Some pay yearly, some pay quarterly and they all pay for different things.

Hello Joseph,

that is a very important question when considering buying a home.

I live in Pembroke Pines in an area called "Silver Lakes" and our HOA fees are collected quarterly.

Realtor Susan gave you already a list of what the fee usually covers. Your Buyers Agent will provide you with the information how much and when the HOA is due and what it covers for a home you are considering making an offer on.
