Monika -

In addition to checking out the schools and talking to the principals, I also suggest you visit http://www.greatschools.net. This site has a lot of parent ratings in addition to its compilation and interpretation of the school report cards. You also did not mention which schools you were interested in - High Schools are all in district 214 and the grade and middle schools are either in district 59, distrcit 25 and a few areas are in district 21.

I also encourage my clients when considering new suburbs to stop the local policeman. They are a wealth of information and are not bound by any Fair Housing Laws.

Hope this helps!

Dear Monika,
How well do you know Arlington Hts?
Schools..... Well here is my personal answer to this often asked question.... As a Realtor I cannot tell you to move to this area of any city, because the schools there are better than somewhere else!!!!! By law we are not allowed to do so....But what we can do is direct you to websites to do your research... Just look up all the schools on the Arlington Heights city website.....

But here is also what I tell all my buyer clients, when this concern or question pops up:
A) What is important to a parent when the schools for their children come to mind, is very very different for
every parent, and every child...
why because some parents are concerned with academics, others with science, others with
athletics and many other thoughts inbetween.... Therefore the parents must take the time
to check the report cards of the schools their children may attend, now or in the future ...

B) I suggest to all my clients with school children, go and visit the schools, have a tour, talk to the principal
and get the questions that are important to you answered this way

C) And I always tell my clients, to be aware of the fact that school districts sometimes are changed, because of influx of the number of school children, or new schools being built, larger subdivisions being created etc...... So the school you think your child will attend in a few years may not be the one when that time comes around.... Just a thought....

D) Also over time the report cards of schools can change......

But having said all that, go to the websites, read the reports, visit the schools....

By the way where are you moving from and why are you thinking about buying in Arlington Hts?
Are you currently working with a Realtor to find the right home for you?

Good Luck and have a wonderful Day!
