There is a will & a way!
Homebuyers choose the Los Alamitos area for the Blue Ribbon schools we have here, this cancels out for most any extra drive time they might experience.
I disagree with the other answer about the freeway construction hindering the drive time, this can be nipped in the bud by exiting on Carson St. to Norwalk Blvd or Katella, which will put you right at the north end of Rossmoor anway. We've all learned the shortcuts to get around the traffic issues, I can show you the ropes too!
I know all the Los Alamitos neighborhoods & all the different models & I know I can really help you out! Shoot me an email if you want to talk about this some more.I don't look back on this same Trulia thread for answers posted after mine.

With the current construction going on with the 405 it is a little rougher. I expect the commute will be longer when they start tearing down the 405 and 605 connectors, which will occur this year or next year. I would imagine he will be able to take the commute for about 6 months to a year before he starts looking for jobs closer to Los Alamitos.
With the current construction going on on the 405 freewa this commute may be very unpleasant.
Is there any way your husband can carpool?
Los Alamitos is a great city to raise your small children in. The city offers an out standing school district. Being close to beaches, major freeways, dinning and shoppig is a plus too.
The overall quality of life Los Alamitos will offer your family may be worth the commute.
Best of luck to you!
