Any suggestions on the where. I know the Island well. Just wondering if anyone feels this is THE time, wait a few months, or bad idea.

John,
Not upset at all, just setting the record straight. I have been in Key West since 95 and have been in Real Estate since 99, serving last year as President of my local board, and I have been on the state BOD for the last two years. I haved been to Lake County before, I broke down there in my Toyota landcruiser. We had to tow it to Valdosta because they only "worked in Fords and Chevy's"

Jimmy,
You seemed to be a little upset with me . . . you know all that Frost Free and Flying around stuff. You will be pleased to know it Frosted here last night – Burrr!!!! It’s high 60’s now.
Sorrento is just north of the Mouse in Lake County.
Please know, I was just trying to suggest to Lori there might be some Warm but Frosty at times, places in Florida that might be easier to get to from Bethlehem, PA. Orlando (MCO - 1/2 hour away from Sorrento) has many flights a day, as does FFL, JAX, MIA, APF, TMY and others. We too have nice water front areas. It was just a suggestion. I meant no offense.
Now, that I know Lori knows KW and her mind, I am sure you Conchs can find her just the right place.
Speaking of Conch’s.
Key West is a wonderful place, I first showed up there July 1948 (Born in Frosty, Davie, Florida 1947) to meet my Grandfather who was in the area doing work for the State of Florida chasing bugs. Great Great Uncle Ned was where too, has he came with Flagler in 1910 to build that Railroad. They did some ground braking engineering to get that done. He settled in Marathon (Frost Free, I think) and died there in 1955. G GU Ned came as he was a civil engineer and my Great Grand Dad, Jens Helseth visited KW before he settled in Frosty Fort Pierce in 1891, where my Grandmother was born in 1898). He said it was frost free then too.
G.G.U Ned was there when Great Uncle Harry came to build the fresh water pipeline as a Navy Seabee in 1942 and 43 to help improve the sub-base in KW, before shipping off to the War in the Pacific. His Civil Engineering firm (in Miami) has been doing work in the Keys since the early 1950’s. Schwebke.
My Mother loved Key West (she was born in Frosty Sebring, FL 1927) in the late 1920’s, 30’s and 40’s as my Grand Daddy had to travel to Havana, to check for bugs, he was an Entomologist. My Mother in the 30’s and 40’s enjoyed the thrill of flying on the Pan Am to Cuba. I enjoyed Havana in the 50’s, what a place before 1959.
My Grandmother, RN, was in the Red Cross (head of south Florida RC– Frosty and Non Frosty areas) for many years as a Nightingale nurse and in the 1935 storm help burn many hundred of bodies up in the upper Keys after the storm. Had more than a dozen family members present on Upper Matecumbe key when they opened the memorial. Granddad Pappy was there for the Truman Key West agreements in 1949.
I have landed airplanes at Cudjoe, Summerland, EYW, KYL and MTH. To Date, I have the same number of landings as takeoffs. The Keys are pretty from the air, but the Winds can be tricky and the runways short. In addition to a little time in the air over the Keys, I have thousands of hours running small to medium water craft all over the keys, from Loggerhead Key (82.9/24.6 way West of Key West – to Card sound and beyond.. In 2002 spent 4 weeks in White water bay living off the land before coming out , just like I use to do in the 50’s and 60’s. A thrill for an old man.
Many former Keys people now live here in Lake County, to include me. I lived in Grassy Key during the 50’s, Marathon of and on during the 60’s and Summerland Key on the landing strip 2002-04.
I know how touchy you Frost Free Conchs can get about us outsiders, and if you are ever have the need to see and feel frost, please come to Lake county and I will show you around.
John
PS Jimmy, when did you first get to the Keys?

I was stationed in KW from 88-90 then stayed until 1994. I have been back every year (sometimes more than once) so I know the island very well. This is a personal buy for me and of course to rent out when I am not there. I have always been in love with 1800 Atlantic and see a ton of short sales going on there. I am looking for some educated guesses on what the "experts" think the market it going to do in KW. I am an investor in Pennsylvania and think now is a great time to buy (in Pennsylvania!). Again, I am not looking anywhere else, just KW!
Thanks for any insight you can give!

John, not sure where Sorrento FL is, but we have direct flights into KW from Tampa, Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, Ft. Lauderdale, Charlotte and many more, so it actaully is quite easy to get here. We also have a lot of people who fly their own planes here so it is very convenient and we are the only frost free City in Florida! How cold has it gotten where you live this winter?

Its a very full day to get to Key West from anywhere
There are easier Warm places to get to - far less expensive to buy
to get to.
