All of the schools in PTC are wonderful. My brother is a special needs student and he did have a hard time with bullying, which is how he ended up getting into the same program that I saw Don Sullivan mention. It's incredible. With that, he was able to have his education paid for to go to a well-known private school called The Campus (close to McIntosh High School). He absolutely loved it. That school did more for him than we ever could have hoped for. I definitely suggest looking into it. Good luck!

We also have a Special Needs child and have found that the public schools do a very good job across the board (best public schools in Georgia are in Peachtree City and they compare very favorably on a national basis). But what you might not know... and this is a huge advantage in my opinion... is that Georgia law allows you to move your special needs child from a public school setting to a private special needs school and the state will pay an amount commensurate with the level of services received in the public school setting. In our daughter's case, the state pays for nearly ALL of our expenses to send her to a very good private school. He/she would have to be enrolled at least one year in public school and covered under an IEP (individualized education plan), but otherwise EVERY full-time special needs child qualifies.
Hope that helps... this is a GREAT place to live and raise a family. Have lived here 10 years and don't intend on leaving anytime soon :)

Our son in special education attended Oak Grove Elementary and we were pleased. I've also heard great things about Braelinn Elementary. In generally, the PTC schools are very accommodating. You could call the school district to see if there are specific schools that would cater to your child's needs better than others.

All of Fayette County Schools are dedicated to helping special needs children. While I cannot speak with experience on precise special education programs, Fayette County Board of Education has a very thorough and comprehensive website that may be beneficial to you and meeting the needs of your child. I have searched the website myself and recommend looking at the Instructional Programs link I'm providing. The site has a number of names, telephone numbers and specialty areas that may prove valuable in your inquirey. The site is http://www.fcboe.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=a… The home site for the FBOE is http://www.fcboe.org.

If you would like for me to conduct more specialized research on your behalf, I would most happy to do so. Please feel free to call, text or email me. Thank you for your inquirey and I look forward to speaking with you in the near future.
