Street parking in Journal Square

Asked by Heydork, Little Ferry, NJ Mon Jul 19, 2010

I'm considering buying a condo in Journal Square.. about an 8 min. walk to the PATH.. The big downside is the fact that there isn't any parking available. The nearest garage is also about an 8 min. walk so that seems pretty inconvenient. I don't so much mind street parking, but I was wondering if anyone could offer advice on how the permit parking/zoning restrictions work? And also realistically, how difficult is parking here in the winter when it snows and I assume different rules may apply?

Street parking in Journal Square ranges from moderately easy to almost impossible. It does depend on where you're planning on buying.

Jersey City issues parking permits based on zones, to help make sure parking in an area is restricted to residents of that area. Your best bet is to contact the Jersey City Parking Authority for more detail on that. I would also ask around the neighborhood if you see people out and ask them their opinion as each part of Jersey city has it's own dynamic. Hope that helps. the website for the city is http://www.cityofjerseycity.com Here is the contact info:
