Spouse with poor credit

Asked by sillymommy627, Allison Park, PA Tue Jan 22, 2013

Are there any lenders that work with couples who have one with good credit and one with poor? Together our income is 100K . My husband has good credit however mine is not, but is improving. Is there any way that we could be approved for a mortgage?

Hi there,

Lenders are will not take an "average" of your scores - they typically default to the lower score if you apply together and want both incomes factored into the equation. The question is really - how bad is "poor" in terms of your score. Some lenders and programs will lend with scores in the 600's, but you'll want to talk with a mortgage professional who can find the right financing for your situation

Hope this helps!

The best thing to do is get in touch with a mortgage broker who can answer your questions. They will consider your personal financial situation and tell you how to proceed.
