While I don't know who your agent is, it does say a lot about his/her character that they not only showed you a short sale and wrote an offer on it, but also respected your value of the home as HOME and stuck with you for these past 6+ months. While Trulia is a great place to seek information about the real estate process, your own agent (also licensed in your state) has your best interests in mind. Even if you vent here, be sure to share your questions with him/her.
Most banks will not accept closing costs as a concession now. Also, with the positive real estate news coming, the banks are going to want market value or better on their short sales. Too many times the listing is put on the market at extremely low prices just to have the bank come back and say they want more money. This causes the buyer to get frustrated and walk away.
However 6 months have a returned executed contract WAYYYYYYYYYY out limits WOW... agent should have you looking and closed a long time ago. We instruct our clients within 30 -60 days you should be closed if not we have problems best keep moving.
