Safety and future of Dayton's Bluff?

Asked by Linzabel, Saint Paul, MN Thu Sep 10, 2009

My family is looking at the Dayton's Bluff neighborhood in St. Paul, MN. I read that this neighborhood is up and coming - what is the general concensus about safety and sustainability for this neighborhood? The house we love is located on Cypress and Wakefield off of Old Hudson Road.

I personally would be a bit nervous about this area. North around Phalen is struggling a bit right now. Additionally, I consider this area on the "outside" of the Twin Cities, I think an area like Highland Park has more appeal - both on resaleability and neighborhoods; plus the location is more convenient to Bloomington and Minneapolis.

However, you are correct in that they are pouring a lot of money into the area.

I personally like neighborhoods that have long term sustainability: MacGroveland/Highland/Crocus defines that with Summit Ave, the Colleges, Grand Ave Businesses, and location to the River Parkway and other cities.

This is all of my opinion.
