(husband travels weekly).
Home requirements: New or under 10 yrs old, 4 Bedroom, 3000 sq ft, Large backyard at least .50 acre, under 600k. Some areas I’ve seen that look like they might meet my criteria are Ballantyne, Waxhaw, Myers Park, and Matthews. Any other areas/advice would be greatly appreciated.
We will be in the area the last week of November to meet with someone and hopefully view some properties.
Hi Heather,
Congrats on making the move to the Carolina's. I have to admit I'm partial to South Carolina. We moved from Pittsburgh to Fort MIll 11 years ago, and it was the best thing we ever did! Fort Mill is only about 20 minutes to the airport. After we moved here it got to be kind of a joke when our friends and family from up north would ask us "How far is it to here or there?" The answer always seemed to be "about 20minutes!" We have gotten so spoiled with everything we could possibly need being only "about 20 minutes" away. So when you say you want something somewhat close 30-45 min...If I'm going 45 min away I may need to pack a lunch! haha
I would love the opportunity to show you & your family the area. By the way does any in the family like to golf? I have a listing that is right on the golf course with an inground pool, koi pond, 3 car gar, 4100 sq feet and it's in your price! Feel free to contact me directly by phone or email and I'll send you the link. And OH by the way...its about 20 minutes away!

Hi Heather,
As mentioned above, area wise, you are most likely on the right track... 2 questions though, 1) does your husband have a physical office he needs to be at from time to time, if so where? or is it just good access to the airport, and 2) exactly how important are the schools, as the schools vary widely here, district to district and even within districts...
I am not sure where you are coming from, most folks come and are overwhelmed by the quality of the homes and communities... there are lots of good choices in the 500-650K range
(need to search to 650 because no one is paying retail! :)) in your areas of interest-
If you 'd say to me, "Schools are Very Important" one way to narrow it down might be to do some school research, and then we'd search for homes in those school districts, if that makes sense. My four children attended both private and public schools in South Charlotte- I know schools and where to help you find the best answers for your family.
Last but not least, my lender and I have put together a package of benefits for folks relocating here without a relocation package- on a $500,000 home your savings would exceed $7,000. $ 7,000 to use as you wish to offset the Large expense of relocating here. Alternatively, if your husband has a relocation package, we work with all major companies.
Back to "Where to Live", your list is a good one but those are not the only nice places to live in Charlotte.
If you haven't seen it, this is a great place to start, it is a well regarded Introduction to Charlotte video, http://ow.ly/CiZs it is fact filled and #1 On You Tube for over 12 months for Charlotte NC - it takes you on a 4minute tour of the city and introduces me along the way
Also- here is a video I created to help answer the Big Question, "Where to Live In Charlotte" here's that link: http://ow.ly/Cj2t
My website is below, and you can also learn more about me on my relocation blog, CharlotteCommunitiesOnline.com - we listen, we know your concerns and we get the job done. You are welcome to call, I keep myself free for most "interview" calls in the afternoons, 704-351-1519, or just sign up when prompted and leave your phone number with a phone number and I'll call you.
Also- when you sign up on my site I'll forward my online Charlotte Relocation Guide, chock full of Charlotte Information, links and phone numbers.
With all the ways you have to search for homes, which I am sure you are using, I didn't leave any particular links - but custom searches is what we'd do once w know a bit more about your specific needs.
Cheers! Hope to see you in Charlotte!
You definately hit the Jackpot with this selection, while Myers Park is a georgeous area to own a house in, you will end up with a smaller property and less square footage than the area out of Charlotte city, homes tend to be older in that area too. I would also include Fort Mill SC to your wish list. Be glad to help you all out when you visit our area, if I can set you up on a client gateway list before your arrival please contact me so that I can narrow your selction to more specifics and you can receive home selections that maybe of interest.
Hi Heather,
Would love the opportunity to welcome you to Charlotte, and assist you with your relocation to our area. The areas you have identified are fantastic, I think you will be very pleased with the homes available to you in these areas. Would love to have the opportunity to show you some homes when you are going to be in town later this month.

Hi Heather,
You listed some great areas - mostly located in South/Southeast Charlotte. We moved from the Northern Virginia area and settled in Southeast Charlotte 20 years ago. At that time, my husband was traveling quite a bit, and we had 3 small children. I love South Charlotte for all that it offers.
Your criteria for a home search certainly includes quite a few homes that are currently on the market. As you know, it is a great time to buy with all the availability and low interest rates.
I would be more than happy to meet with you and show you around the last week of November. I know what it's like to relocate from another area. I find that it is always best to work with a Realtor that has that relocation experience. Please feel free to give me a call at 704-451-3895 or visit our web site at http://www.propertiesofCharlotte.com. We are a husband/wife team and have been doing this for 20 years. We are both Accredited Buyers Representatives.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Heather,
I would recommend you look in our MLS area 4 and 5. Most of those areas have some of the highly regarded schools. I've made a custom search for you that links to all the homes that meet your criteria, in those areas. I think you'll find that going out as far as Waxhaw may make your commute a lot longer than 30 or 45 minutes... depending on where you are working. Most people really like the Southpark area and you'll see that some of those homes are on large lots. I went back a little older than 10 years... just so you can see how much closer you can get to Charlotte, if you are willing to consider homes that are a little older. Most people have updated their places and you might like the older homes a little better.

Hey Heather,
Hope you are having a great weekend! All of those areas are great and quite honestly you should easily be within 30-45 minutes from the airport just about anywhere in Charlotte. All of my clients laugh at me because when we are discussing how far it is to certain places I always answer "15 minutes" because it really is easy to get around and you can usually get everywhere you want to go in a decent amount of time. You certainly are going to be able to get a little more for your money in the Ballantyne, Waxhaw and Matthews areas as opposed to Myers Park just because of location. Shelley is correct in saying Fort Mill and Lake Wylie both would be good areas to look. I would be more than happy to help you in your search so when you get a chance if you would like to give me a call or email me I can start emailing you some homes to view online so that you have an idea of what is out there in these particular areas and certainly would be more than happy to show you around town when you arrive in Charlotte at the end of the month.
I appreciate it and will look forward to hearing from you!

Hello Heather! Congratulations on making Charlotte your new home for you and your family! I moved to Charlotte about 10 years ago from the Midwest and I still love Charlotte as much as the first day I came here! Today in Charlotte is absolutely wonderful...The sun is shining and the carolina blue skies are just gorgeous!
There is also Dilworth, Eastover and SouthPark. I think we will need to look at all of these Areas to see what best suits your needs and lifestyle. You may find that in order to get the acreage within your budget that we may have to look towards the South (Ballantyne) and Union County (Waxhaw, Weddington & Matthews).
It would be my pleasure to be able to start sending you some information now on what is available based on your criteria. Would you mind sending me your email address? Several properties come to mind that I would love to show you. I would also love to be able to show you around Charlotte! It is a fabulous time to be a Buyer in our market. There are still alot of great properties for sale and alot of good "deals' still to be had.
I hope to hear from you, Heather! Please let me know how I can help you with your new home search!
Lake Wylie and Ft. Mill are also very nice. Please call me and we can discuss them further. My direct line is 704-619-7355 Shelley Simmons REMAX
