I am in the process of purchasing a home that has knob and tube wiring but an updated electrical panel (circuit breakers).
Can anybody recommend an insurance co. that will insure a NJ home with this type of wiring?
In an effort to save some the typing, I know most insurance companies don't want to and why they don't want to cover K&T wiring and that it may be a fire hazard. I know all about K&T wiring . . . what I don't know is an insurance company that will insure a home with it.
Thanks for any recommendations!
I've never found an insurance company that will cover K&T wiring, although companies will give coverage with the condition that the K&T wiring be disconnected and replaced within 30 or 60 days of closing.

Hi Neil,
Good luck with your new home!! I can't recommend an insurance company, but if anyone can find an insurance company to insure K&T, Paige Moore at Weichert Insurance can! If Weichert won't insure it, and it can be insured, Paige will work until she finds a company who will! Call her at 1-866-392-4368.
