I was looking through the guidelines of the Kansas City Dream Home program and I want to apply but it says that for 1 person the maximum income is 39,400. I make 40,000. Am I not going to be considered at all? Also, is there a certain closing date you have to have to qualify?
The cutoff to receive the MHDC down payment assistance as an advanced on your tax credit was October 15th. However, they have returned to the regular bond program that allows a buyer to receive a 3% grant to assist with down payment and closing costs. There are wage limits but your current earnings should be okay.
Most of the Municipal grant programs are awaiting funding such as the Kansas City Dream Program however in the mean time the MHDC - Misssouri Housing Development Commision (Housing Authority) is allowing the 10% tax credit to be monetized to where 3.5% of the credit can be used for your down payment required for FHA financing.
Jose,
The income guidelines are firm. If you make more than the income guidelines you would not be considered for the program. However, there are other programs that you do qualify for. Currently the only deadline that you need to be concerned about is the November 30th in order to be eligible for the First Time Homebuyer Tax Credit. If you would like to have me answer any other questions, please feel free to email or call me.
