Hi Laura- There are some other ways to do this without using a realtor. If you'd like, you can contact me. I can give you some pointers and some websites. Thanks,

Hi Laura,
You are right, the MLS program does not show sold prices to the public. You can get that information from any Realtor, but the MLS service feels that giving out too much information will compromise the service that Realtors pay for. Also the amount of data would be too much for the average person, all homes sell sooner or later, and the database will show every sale of each house, so the quantity of sales is huge.

If you have a few specific homes you would like looked up, I'd be glad to help you. If you simply want to see what homes are selling for in a neighborhood, if you contact me I will give you some pointers--the fastest data is dollars per square foot by town.

If you want to see a neighbor's selling price, you can go tohttp:// www.NHdeeds.com and then to your County and then to the buyer or seller (grantor/grantee) by name. You will see the deed and the tax stamps that were charged. (One caveat, deeds are usually recorded about 3-6 weeks after closing, so if you are dying to know what a house just sold for, you will need a Realtor).
Just remember that the current tax stamp is 1.5% of the selling price--so if you see the stamp at $1500, the house sold for $100,000.
Call me at 603-566-5460 if I can help
