Prices coming down in Brooklyn?

Asked by Joe, 10036 Mon Jul 14, 2008

Honest answers from Buyers? Can't afford anything for probably a year. So, with the market the way it is, I was hoping that prices in Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Boerum Hill, Carroll Gardens would be coming down over the next year. Just wondering how things have been over the last 6 months? I know it's slowed down, but have the prices really dropped?

Hi. I live in the Slope and sell in all the surrounding brownstone neighborhoods you mention. I have seen asking prices get more realistic. Prices were escalating out of control and now they have leveled. Prices are very fair now. Realisitically priced units sell well, overpriced units sit. There has not been a drop, just a matter of things finding the right level. Sellers or listing agents whose expectations were unrealistic had to have price drops. But there has been no precipitous drop, and the market is quite stable.
