I'm thinking about buying a unit at the shelter creek complex in San Bruno. I'm not too familiar with the San Bruno market. Does anyone have any opinions? Safety? Pet Policy (I have a bigger dog)?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Dogs are not allowed, except service dogs. Hallways are full of smoke, the people of balkonies are smoking pot almost permanently. The elevator has been out of service for a week. Therefore, this place is cheap and yet suitable for living.
Honest. I think they are very reasonable in price.
It is a nice area and you need to judge a few things for yourself too.
I'd ask yourself if the property will sell 3-5 years from now and how much competition there will be?
You will always find more then one unit of the same type for sale, so your ability to get a lower price will be
there now as well as in the future. What are your plans over the next 3-7 years?
I think you will need to own it for a while, just like anything else to see some reasonable gains.
Not sure it's a great place for a dog, but if you are good about walking it and taking care of it, you can live anywhere. No secured parking, but nice pools and park like atmosphere.
What do you want and what are your future plans?
I'm pretty familiar with the area. Just let me know if you need more info
Shelter Creek is awesome in my opinion! I lived there and have owned there. Their units are the largest around, the grounds are BEAUTIFUL as you probably already know and they have great swimming facilities. No big digs allowed! I am sure it's a barking issue since one can hear a neighbor pretty easily through the walls. Peninsula Place on the other hand does allow dogs and the complex is really nice, too!
Shelter Creek complex has a nice, park-like atmosphere. I used to rent a 1-bedroom unit there before I bought a 3-bedroom condo in Daly City. What I didn't like about it was the parking is far, it's hard when you're carrying large items or moving furniture and you have to go through long hallways. I also prefer to have in-unit laundry which this complex does not have and a lot of others do. There have been some incidents of car vandalism in the past. You may want to check about their pet policy if you have a bigger dog, they may only allow small or medium size dogs.
The San Bruno market is a good buy, some parts being so close to Millbrae and having little or no fog makes it a hot market. But like most areas nowadays, single-family homes are a better buy than condos. Since house prices have dropped so much, you may want to take advantage of buying a single-family residence rather than a condo where you have to pay HOA dues.
These are nice, well priced condos. They allow cats, birds and service dogs. Good luck.
