Neighborhoods to buy a home in SB

Asked by gaurav811, Goleta, CA Tue Dec 11, 2012

Is Olive St in a good safe neighborhood to live in ? Planning to buy a home in that area. Is Roosevelt a good elementary school ?

I have predominantly looking in Goleta so I am not sure which streets in Santa Barbara are safe. I have read very bad things about downtown. Are there areas you will stay away from ? My budget limits me to buy something under 700k.

Good morning,

Olive street run the span of two neighborhoods, the Upper Eastside and the Lower Eastside/downtown area. The Upper Eastside in particular (Everything above say Anapamu street) is an extremely desirable neighborhood and one of the most popular (and expensive) in Santa Barbara. Olive street is one of the less desirable streets in this neighborhood given it often has smaller, less expensive homes, plus is a main street locals use to cut through the neighborhood. That said, if buying a home on Olive street allows you to get into this prestigious neighborhood, it's often a wise investment.

As to Roosevelt elementary school, there are great school statistic websites out there for you to compare that data to help with your decision. That said, if I collected the verbal comments and feedback from my clients it would be a "middle" tier elementary school as far as SB home buyer desirability. In Goleta, my buyers would rank the top three schools: Mountain View, Kellogg, then Foothill. for Santa Barbara, the HOPE school districts including Vieja Valley, Monte Vista, and Hope are all very desirable and there is a specific following for the charter School Peabody. For Montecito, both elementary schools are top notch: Montecito Union and Cold Springs.

I hope that helps. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of additional assistance. I consistently represent more buyers in the greater Santa Barbara area than any other agent. I would be happy to confidentially share a few exclusive services I have developed for my clients that helps me continue to earn my clients business and trust.

Hi,

I personally live just a block off Olive in the Roosevelt school district and love the location.

If you would like some assistance in familiarizing yourself with the area, we would be happy to assist and share our local knowledge with you. I was born and raised in Santa Barbara as well as my business partner, and her children go to Roosevelt school.

All the best in your search for a home.

Hi there,

Olive street extends from downtown in the commercial district well into the upper east side, but in general is a safe street. And Roosevelt is one of the best elementary schools in SB.

I can show you the Roosevelt school data compared to Goleta schools and elaborate on any specific areas to stay away from.

Please contact me either at jakeralston@gmail.com or call my office at 805-455-9600.

I am happy to help!

Sincerely,
