Getting ready to list property in lower 9th ward and would appreciate feedback from any agents with info about homebuyer assistance in distressed areas. Or possibly contact info for a NOLA lender who would have this info. Thanks! As I work almost exclusively in St.Tammany parish, I know next tonothing about what is available in orleans parish.

Hi Dana, In addition to the $65k soft second program, 10k closing cost assistance (program is close to funding capacity but seeking more funding) there are some IDA programs which may give as much as 7k in assistance.

I am a past director for the New Orleans Housing Department and very familiar with these programs.

Contact me if I can be of assistance

A couple of us in the office are starting an aggressive campaign to get the word out about the first time homebuyer assistance for Orleans Parish..and the combo effect one gets when you throw in the $8K from Uncle Obama...you see...we all have a rich uncle now!

Buyers can get as much as $60K, PLUS another $10K for closing cost assistance.
