Need a Real Estate Attorney for Bartow County Home Purchase

Jeff Koehler
Home Buyer
Acworth, GA

Relocated from up North where every real estate transaction has an attorney representing the buyer. We've been told that it is not necessary in GA. We are headlong into the process and are closing on this home in less than 2 weeks. We would like to obtain the counsel of an attorney. One recent issue is excessive radon levels in the home as a result from one short term test. (We were also told they don't bother with radon tests in GA) Also the agreement states the mortgage lender's attorney is to be the closing attorney, but who is representing us the buyer at the closing? Appreciate any advice on how to proceed. Thank you.

FIRST ANSWER

Hello Jeff,
There are several good attorneys in Cartersville and Acworth area. I can recommend a couple if you would like to email me. Concerning you Radon testing, I would find a person that specializes in that and ask for information and cost on what it will take to seal out the radon. I have not had an experience with radon before but have a name of a inspector that may be able to help. Did your inspector not recommend a company or what needs to be done to fix the problem. Radon is something that I would be concerned about. Is your due dilengence period up on the contract? You can email me at peg11@mindspring.com
