property is on a lake with a pier, boat and jet ski lifts but the house is old and the lack of a garage is not settling well with me. Is it ok to withdraw before the offer is accepted? Or even right after?
Cold feet kill deals.
Sheila - talk with your agent - they'll be able to advise you appropriately.
However - what was it about the house that you liked enough to make the offer? Important question.
What else is on the market?
How many houses have you looked at?
Have you ever purchased a home before?
These are very important questions that you must answer to build a foundation for your question.
Sheila,
Be in touch with your agent ASAP. They will be able to advise you on what is best to do.
Good luck
In new York making an offer is just the first step. If you have changed your mind have your agent call or if you are working with out an agent then you should call and with draw your offer.
you should let your agent know right away to withdraw it. inmost states you have 3 day right of recision but not all, so check with your agent,m but dont let too much time go by.
Thank you both for answering my question. I was sweating a couple of bullets because we jumped too quickly. It has worked out. We were able to withdraw before the seller had a chance to respond. Lesson learned..
In NY, nothing is sealed until you are completely in contract. I hear most states have 3 days to rescind an offer.
Your offer is uaslly good until the time it expires. If they counter your offer you can just decline the counter offer and the deal is dead. If they accept your offer it will depend on the inspection clause that you have in your contract. Here in Louisiana a buyer can get out of a contract at any point during the inspection period.
My advice is to let your agent know ASAP
