My husband and I are wondering if we should buy a home that we are currently renting considering a flood zone. See details below.

It is a 3/2/2 (1450sqft) built in 1990 in a small city outside of Tampa, FL. The home just went down in price to $117,000. We NEED a 4 bedroom, but the house is laid out beautifully that we can add on 2 extra rooms, a family room and a porch just the way we want it very easily. Also, on the other side of the back fence is a retention pond; and about 2 feet of one corner of the backyard by the back fence is in the new flood zone issued by Hillsborough county, FL. This is a home we would like to stay in for the full 30 year term. I'm just wondering if this flood zone is going to become an issue years down the road. Purchasing a house is a first for us. Thanks.

HI Rougerose...
I think a realtor can answer the question about the flood zone. There are alot of options for you. Are you a 1st time buyer? It's smart to look at closing cost fee's also when buying a new home.
