Great advise here ! Are you wanting to move into the 77046 zip code, or will you be working in that area?

here's another cool link for checking out zipcodes :

Depending on the size of house you need, price range limits, if you have pets, and what kind of schools you need, the rental market is HOT right now and you need an agent that knows how to handle applications and leases properly.

Check out my website and send me an email if you still need an agent.

Dear Carolyn!

We expect to move from Norway, Europe to Houston July 30. My wife will have a job in 77046 area, and I will be a jobseeker in the beginning. As pr now, I am trying to sort out all the practical issues such as finding a home and so on. Our plan is initially to buy a home when I have got a job aswell. Hopefully it won't take long. So for starters we are looking at renting. This also to be able to browse for the best area for us to finally settle down. On the other hand, we do not want our kids to change schools too much before we are finally done. I guess anything within 30 miles commutingrange will be ok. As long as schools have good rating and at the same time, the house will not kill our economy.. Feel free to answer me at jasira@online.no

Hello Mr. Rasmussen,

You have the right idea to rent since you are not familiar with Houston. Where are you moving from? Which part of town will you be working in? Can you give me some more information on the type of housing you are interested in? I can help narrow down some searches and send you information by email. Landlords want to know how many people, if you have pets, if you smoke, and also check your credit and criminal background.

If you rent a single family home, generally there is a one-month deposit besides the first month rent that is due. Apartments differ in the deposit, however, better to be on the safe side and assume one month's rent deposit as well.

Depending on the area and how far in advance you are looking to lease, it would be a good idea to lease ahead of time, because availability is getter harder.

I will be happy to help you with several resources, if you would like to work with me. Please email or call and I can give you an idea of the rental and purchasing processes.

Best wishes on your move.

Thank you Mr. Rasmussen for your detailed reply. I will be delighted to help you. I can send you information on the areas your refer - perhaps some apartments and condos that might be available so you get to see what you could possibly get in that area. Thank you also for reminding me about the time difference. I can correspond with you by email directly because sometimes your replies here don't come directly to me. Please send me an introductory email to persis.realtor@gmail.com and I will respond so we have the right contact information. Thanks again for your reply.

Hi again! Forgot to tell that there will be no pets and no smoking inside the house. And we are not criminals :-)

Dear Persis! We are moving from Norway(!) :-) We have no credit-background in the States, but I must say that money isn't the problem. We are courious about the good areas without crime that is safe for small children to grow up in. My wife is going to have her office at Greenway Plaza, Upper Kirby area, so we need to be within commuting-range of that area. When it comes to me, I have to apply for job when we arrive, which I hope will be a success.. :-) Deposit is normal also in Norway, so that's fine. As we are going to be there from beginning of August, we want to be a bit proactive and effective to get all these practical issues solved. Preferably we are up to renting a house or appartment, but when I get a job, we are looking at buying something. Can you help us in our move across the big pond?

Fantastic news! I think you'll enjoy the fine weather, culinary dellights, great school districts, and lots of entertainment that Houston has to offer.

The rental market has increased 212% since this time last year. You must be prepared to submit all the required documentation and deposits right away in order to secure a home. If you'd like more information regarding this, please contact me.
