You should make an appointment with a local and trusted mortgage lender, they can pull your credit and assist you with what it will take to get a loan in the future. you will need to dispute the student loans and should be able to add a comment regarding the medical bills. Good luck Allie

You need some professional advice from a finance professional. You have to closely evaluate what your problems are on your credit report, get rid of debt, and look objectively at your financial position, short term and where you see yourself in the future.

What you need to do is get your financial life in order before you even think about buying anything. Buying a home requires:
1) A history of paying bills on time
2) Some cash in the bank
3) Some idea of what you owe, and how long it will take to pay everything back.

There are many programs out there to help you, especially in Jefferson Parish like Bond money, but even with those you have to have all your ducks in a row.

Allie, Please do not file your disputes online. When you do that it is only two computers checking with one another and you lose certain rights under the law when you do that. You must be very careful if you decide to do this yourself. The web reference shown below is a short seven minute video on credit repair. Please remember that the credit reporting agencies are in business to make money. They are not part of the government but only a for profit business. Please contact me for further information if you would like to.

FIRST ANSWER

your first step should be to pull your credit report online from the 3 credit bureaus, you are allowed 1 free one a year. then dispute the items online that are incorrect. Make notes of everything you do,. Then contact a trused mortgage company, not an internet company, and ask to be prequalified. they will be abloe to assist you in getting done what you need to do as well to get your score up. Many subscibe to services that assist in that. Good luck.
