My real estate agent submitted an offer to another agency that was listing the home. My agent was called a week later and was told that our offer was rejected. When he asked for a copy of the rejection letter he was told he could not have one.

Having sold dozens of bank-owned homes (representing the buyer), no, banks will not take the time to issue a denial letter. Banks operate on their rules and their watch.

In dealing with many bank owned homes I have definately seen banks reject offers without putting it in writing. Typically they just don't respond if they are not going to consider the offer as they are not obligated to respond to you. Or they will have input that rejection info into a computer system that the asset manager and listing agent utilize. I hope that clarifies for you my experiences thus far. I wish you luck! If you are truly interested in this home I would resubmit another offer that is closer to the asking price.

Each and every community has different bylaws. If you are real concerned I would ask the Realtor to have him contact the company attorney and then have the attorney follow-up for you.
