Moving to Port Charlotte and want to buy a home.

Hi, my husband and I are moving to Port Charlotte in July. All of my husbands family is in that area. We have both been laid off here in California and know we ave work waiting for us in Florida. We also have a baby on the way and are looking for a starter home. We were pre-qualified here in California for 200,000 in January. However, now since we are between jobs I don't know if we can get a loan. We have 10,000 dollars for a down payment. I have been looking at homes and would like to not exceed 80,000.00. We want to buy a home to move into rght away. Any advise?

Charlotte County is one of most affordable areas in Florida. Right now there is a abundance of inventory from which to choose. I agree with MJ, you might want to rent first and get established with work and get a feel for the area instead of rushing into a purchase. You can rent a lot of house right now for for a very fair price.

Mrs. Joseph,
Both previous answers are good. You need to come here and take it from there. Perhaps rent while you get a job and then get look around for exactly what you want. There are properties in your price range but it all depends on your criteria.

We service all of Charlotte County and North Port. Our Property management department would be very happy to find you a rental until you find what you are looking for.

Please do contact us and we would be happy to work with you.

Good Luck

Mrs. Joseph,

My advice is to come to Florida and rent a home. They are plentiful now, so you would be able to negotiate flexible terms until you find a home to purchase.

Once you begin work here in Florida, especially if your work is in the same industry you worked in California, you will be in a better position to qualify for a loan. Go in now and talk with the lender that prequalified you in January to see what advice they have for you.

The good news is that we do have some $80,000 homes here in Port Charlotte.

Good luck to you in your new job and your home search!

MJ

Hello, Mrs. Joseph -

There are many homes for sale in your price range that are in excellent condition and in good locations. The key to finding one quickly and moving in without having to perform any major work to get it into shape is to find a Realtor® that you are comfortable working with and who will earn your trust first.

I suggest you begin by asking your family members for referrals and interview them by telephone - ask them to send you recommendations appropriate to your situation and go from there. If that is not workable, then contact some of the respondents to your question here and go through that process with them.

Good luck and we hope to hear from you (we do have a listing that sounds like a fit - we have a Visual Tour of it on our website).

Regards,

Ken & Karen
