Hello, Paul... Both areas are good. Middletown is more developed than Townsend and has more shopping and restaurants in closer proximity to its neigbhorhoods. Townsend is still a little more rural. Both are in the Appoquinimink School District. Go to my website: http://www.yourdelawarerealestate.com/ and click on the community and school links which will give you more detailed information.

Both areas are served by the Appoquinimink school district, which is one of the better school districts in the state. I would check out http://www.greatschools.org/ to find out more information.

I've lived in Townsend and loved it there. I taught school in Middletown. It was fine too. But many years have passed since then. Still, I would be surprised if you have a choice of elementary schools. When I was there, there was just one and the area has not grown greatly since then.
