Find a lender who you can work with and it really makes sense to come to the area to explore yourself and see where you may want to call home. During the time you are in the apartment put a financial plan together so your credit will be ready when your lease is up.

Hope this helps.

Define: "Not the best"

Maybe it is still good enough.

Even old collections do NOT deny you from a loan.

I would try to talk with a mortgage broker now so they can pull your credit to see where the problems might be on your report. You might have things on there that are not even yours. Also do not buy or get credit for anything until you speak with your financial advisor. You could start with your bank and talk with other brokers to compete for your business. It might take a few month to get your credit score up and clear. Start sooner than later. You might have to rent for 6 months to build up some reserve and get any bad marks off your credit report. Its starts with a phone call.... Good luck. .

There are a lot of nice areas in Arlington. North Arlington has some very nice apartments that I think you and your husband would enjoy that are in very safe neighborhoods. Also I should mention that if you are looking to buy I have a great mortgage banker that could possibly get you qualified. My moto is if you don't know ask a professional.

Brinli06 there is a new program that has come into the DFW market area and it is a Lease with Right To Buy. With this new investor the number of homes available for this type of purchase plan has just exploded giving you lots of options.

Basically you find the home, investor buys home, you rent home, and then you purchase the home up to 3 years later when your credit is ready at a price agreed to up front.

If this might work for you then please feel free to contact me.

Best of luck in your home search ... Bruce Erickson
