Many houses seem to have serious foundation or settling problems in Leawood. Why is this?

Unfortunately, the rise in foundation problems is not relegated to Leawood. The entire KC Metro, and the Region for that matter, have experienced a severe drought for the last year and half, which allows the foundation to shift or sink when the soil drys out and contracts. This is why some experts recommend watering around your foundation, which, in theory, keeps the soil moist, and therefore expanded and keeps the foundation better supported.
