Lottery Schools - odds of getting in?

Asked by webmihir, Sunnyvale, CA Fri Sep 27, 2013

What are the odds of getting into lottery schools like Millikin? I tried searching but they do not seem to disclose that information. Is there a place to find how many applications were received and accepted from past?

Your best shot is to ask the school or the school district these questions directly.

Another option is to choose the area of Santa Clara that feeds to Cupertino schools. Because all of the elementary schools in Cupertino school district are high performing.

Since you won't have control even if you lived within a block of Millikin, that you could get in, you could choose instead that area near Lawrence/Stevens Creek that is Cupertino Union.

And I also agree, the school admins are the best source of information, and also the principal. They just may or may not share the information.

And also I agree that Kindergarten is easier typically than any other grade for an impacted school admission process.

Good luck!

I agree with Erica. The area of Santa Clara that feeds to Cupertino is an option you should look into.

Even I want to know. What is the waiting list number that someone has been able to get enrollment on? I mean waiting list 15 etc. If yes, then how long will it take to get the call? Anyone that had been in the same boat in the past???

Go to Millikin and ask them directly for the information. The front office will help you. It is very hard to get into. But if you don't make it in initially you go onto a waiting list and will get called in during a later grade. You need to try and get called in when your kids are young. Because the older they get, they won't want to leave their school and friends. One of my daughters got in. She had a low waiting list number, and several people dropped out before the school year started. The other daughter got a high number. However, they called during her 2nd grade year with an offer, but she didn't want to leave her friends. Good luck.
